The recent international tender conducted by the General Food Security Authority of Saudi Arabia (GFSA) highlighted the rapidly growing demand for imported grain. The kingdom significantly revised its original procurement plans, purchasing nearly 1 million metric tons of milling wheat instead of the initially projected 710 thousand tons.

     Supply sources included grain from the European Union, the Black Sea region, North and South America, and Australia. This enabled traders to independently select the most competitive suppliers.

     However, the key feature of the contracts scheduled for July–August execution became the logistical constraints. Due to security risks and shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz area, the entire imported volume will be redirected exclusively to Red Sea ports.

     The logistics flow distribution is as follows:

• Yanbu port: will receive the largest cargo volume—8 shipments (60–65 thousand tons each) within a price range of $275.33–$278.33 C&F.
• Jeddah port: contracted 6 similar shipments priced between $274.33 and $277.54 C&F.
• Jizan port: will handle 2 shipments of 55 thousand tons each, with prices reaching up to $285 C&F.

     The restructuring of trade routes and handling of million-ton grain volumes require impeccable quality control, transparent logistics chains, and minimization of financial risks.
