Odesa and Rotterdam seaports seal Partnership

The Odesa branch of the State Enterprise “Administration of Seaports of Ukraine” (USPA) signed a memorandum of cooperation with Europe’s largest port, the Port of Rotterdam. This landmark event took place on March 30 during a business forum held in the city of Breda (the Netherlands).

The agreement was signed by Dmytro Nazarenko, head of the Odesa branch of USPA, together with representatives of the Dutch side—Port Captain René de Vries and legal expert Joop Vermeulen. The memorandum outlines the expansion of cooperation, the exchange of practical expertise, and the implementation of joint initiatives.

According to the Odesa branch management, the agreement marks an important step toward aligning the port with leading European standards. The experience of Rotterdam—one of the world’s key maritime hubs—is seen as especially valuable. The partnership is expected to drive innovation and enhance operational efficiency, even amid the ongoing war.

Discussions also focused on modern approaches in the port sector, including digitalization, the use of artificial intelligence in logistics, and the advancement of management systems. Particular attention was given to the restoration of Odesa’s port infrastructure and continued support for Ukraine’s maritime industry.
